OK here we go. This is a look at the Panhandle as best I can I am sure there will some comments on rankings and name spellling’s, weights ,etc. Any feed back is welcome and needed to fill in some of the blanks. I tried the best I could with the results I had. So here goes.

103- 1.Chris Ruiz-9 (Tascosa)
2.Josh Martinez-9 (Randall)
3.Richard Leal-? (Pampa)
4.Ray Barbosa-? (Caprock)

Ruiz and Martinez are very close in there matchups as far as i can see after them it is pretty much a toss up.

112- 1.Brandon McDonald-11 (Randall)
2.Thomas Harris-? (Caprock)
3.Levin Cornelius-? (Dumas)
4.Eddie Gilvin- ? (Tascosa)

Brandon McDonald has looked very tough this year, he has a close match with Harris once that I know of it was 6-5 in OT. After these two it is pretty even.

119- 1.Harvey Suarez-11 (Caprock)
2.Kalvin King-11 (Randall)
3.Paz Acosta-? (Palo Duro)
4.Joseph Martinez-? (Hereford)

This is probably one of the toughest weight classes in the Panhandle.

125- 1.Afghan Sherali-? (Caprock)
2.Josaih Krulik-? (Amarillo High)
3.Caleb Martin-12 (Borger)
4.Collin Brown-10 (Tascosa)

I do not know a whole lot about this weight class, but it could be a very tough one. I am not sure if Brown will be here or at 135.

130- 1.Joseph Quinto-10 (Tascosa)
2.Rene Montoya-10 (Caprock)
3.Kasey Urqhart-11 (Amarillo High)
4.

Quinto has done very well this year as has Montoya. I could not find any matchup between these two but could be a very good one.

135- 1.Michael Latham-12 (River Road)
2.”Juice” Watson-9 (Borger)
3.Thomas Hinojosa-11 (Amarillo High)
4.

Latham should be a force to deal with if he is at this weight. Juice is the younger brother of Jeremy Watson and he is a litlle machine.

140- 1.Michael Gerber-12 (Randall)
2.J.J.Rose-? (Tascosa)
3.
4.

By far Gerber is the class of this weight in the panhandle and maybe the best wrestler here also.

145- 1.Coy Grant-11 (Palo Duro)
2.Kaleb Luna-? (Borger)
3.Jarred Williams-? (Amarillo High)
4.

Grant has been wrestling very well this year and Kaleb is returning state placer.

152- 1.Taylor Torisk-12(Dumas)
2.Dezi Contreras-12(Borger)
3.Cameron Padilla-11(Randall)
4.

Taylor is a returning state placer and Dezi won Region 1 last year. I have no record of the two wrestling this year. Potentionaly great match.

160- 1.Jason Logan-12(Dumas)
2.Jeremy Watson-11(Borger)
3.Cody Dudding-11(Randall)
4. Chris Holmes-9(Caprock)

Returning state champ logan looking up to form, Watson will give a challenge.

171- 1.Joey Sykes-10(Randall)
2.Tyler Dalke-?(Amarillo High)
3.
4.

not much info for this class.

180- 1.Drew Cox-12(Randall)
2.Joeseph Flores-9(Tascosa)
3.
4.

Drew Cox set two new school records this year 22 straight pins and 36 total pins. Flores is a very good young freshman comming up.

189- 1.Devon Woods-10(Caprock)
2.Donny Vincent-?(Amarillo High)
3.
4.

Two honorable mentions that is all I really know.

215- 1.Scott Sanderson-12(Amarillo High)
2.Shea Adlong-12(Randall)
3.
4.

Sanderson is very tough. Adlong has had a nagging injury all season. have to wait and see.

275- 1.Brett Payne-12(Randall)
2.Blake Park-?(Amarillo High)
3.Freddy Jiminez-?(Dumas)
4.

Payne is the best in the Panhandle and should do well at state I believe. Riley was #2 but read that he is out with a hand injury and it requires surgey.
