TX-USAW Board Position Open

After helping turn the organization around and serving for 2 years on the Board of Directors, Cindy Buerke has stepped down from her position as state secretary on the Board. We would like to thank Cindy not only for the past 2 years but also for her decades of service to the sport.

The Board of Directors is now seeking nominations/volunteers to serve out the remainder of Cindy's term and help lead the organization in 2012. All nominations/volunteers must be submitted to the Board by midnight October 15, 2011. The Board will then meet in the following week to elect a new director pursuant to the TX-USAW Bylaws.

All TX-USAW members in good standing are eligible for the position. Nominations should be submitted to Jim Dorsey, State Chairman, or your Region Director by the deadline. Candidates should then prepare a biography with qualifications and a short statement for the Board to review.

The success of TX-USAW and our ability to serve the wrestlers in this state depends on volunteers stepping up to be part of a team effort. Please consider getting involved in this important role for the 2012 season!

Reminder that nominations for the open Secretary position must be submitted by the end of the day Saturday. If you or someone you know is interested in the position please contact a board member this week.

Duties for the position include:
Record, distribute and post minutes of annual meetings and the monthly Board meetings.
Give notice to the members on annual meetings.
Keep the records of the corporation.
- This includes getting up-to-date inventory/asset lists from regions.
Document actions of the board when needed by 3rd parties.
- For example, banks will only change signatories on accounts when the secretary provides signed documentation of board authorization.
Work with the region secretaries to make sure their meeting minutes are turned-in and posted.
Maintain certain membership records.
Serve as a voting Board member.
