I could not agree more and I think the increase in the number of wrestlers is proof Texas USA has things going in the right direction. Thanks for all your effort.

We (Jason Nickal and myself) would like to thank everyone that donated items to hospitality, their time, and/or money to this year’s event.

We had about 900 entries which was an increase over last year’s entries of 732. This year’s event was by far, the most profitable fundraiser for Team Texas Men and Women! We made $5,900 last year, and although the numbers are not quite final for this year, it appears that we will end up more than doubling our fundraising this year to somewhere betwen $12,000-$13,000! We will publish the final results soon.

There were a few key decision made by our FS/GR State Committee that truly made a huge difference in the fundraising; but ultimately it was a success because our wrestling community had a charitable spirit of volunteering their time, service, money or items. We sincerely want to thank each of you that stepped up to the plate this year and we encourage those that sat on the sidelines to get involved next year. We provide “on-the-job-training” and its makes you feel good to give back to the great sport of wrestling!

We want to give a special thanks to some key people:
-Texas Officials who volunteered their time gratis in order to help us achieve our fundraising goals. We appreciate their professionalism, smooth running of the mats and ultimately the safety of our Texas Wrestlers! Your donation of time made a $2,000 difference in our fundraising this year!
-Jeff McCall and his UTA Wrestlers for hosting the event at the MAC Center and set up of the venue!
-Jim Curtiss for mat logistics and delivery of key items for set-up!
-Kirk Cobb, Emily & Stacy Martin, Nick Reenan, Nina Machado and her crew for Friday night set-up and miscellaneous things during weigh in, set up and throughout the tournament!
-John Reenan for coordinating volunteers and being on the core team and doing anything necessary to make it a success!
-Mr & Mrs. Kelly Curnutt with Arlington Storm for cooking the delicious BBQ for the Hospitality Room to feed our volunteers, coaches and officials!
-Joe, Mary Ann, and Minnie Hart with Keller Wrestling Academy for running the gate in an efficient and conscientious manner. You were key in increasing our gate sales by nearly $4,000 this year! WOW is all we can say!
-The Machado Family from Star Jiu-Jitsu for coordinating the Hospitality donations and logistics and running the Team Texas Gear Sales all in addition to running a mat table! You are a great addition to our wrestling family!
-Laura Mayo and the Stephenville club for running the Awards table! I think this is their niche for sure!
-Kat Balch, Christina Wall with Frisco H.S., and Stacy Martin and other helpers that ran the Announcer tables in both gyms!
-Pedro Moreno with Saginaw and Mike Harris with The Woodlands for their generous donations of items for the hospitality room and all the community that donated items!
-Head Table or our “Brains of the Operation” - Rebecca Scheer with Frisco Bombers, Kyle Stevens with Frisco East, AnnMarie McCabe with Best Trained, Chip Lowery with Coppell Cowboy Wrestling, Jason and Alexis Thurston with Frisco East, Waymon May with Thundercats and our State Chairman, Jim Dorsey. You guys are the best!
-All the clubs and individuals that ran mat tables –Dallas Dynamite, Best Trained, Star Jiu-Jitsu, Rock Stars, Frisco Bombers, Frisco East, Keller Wrestler Academy, Arlington Storm, Coppell Cowboys, Bandit Wrestling, and many individuals that anyone else that jumped in to lend a hand or donated items to the hospitality room!

In addition, we want to give a very special thanks to Rick Ohlbaber from Texas Select Wrestling Club for his generous donation of $1,000 to Team Texas this year. Likewise to Bill Short who always supports Texas Wrestling in a very quiet and non-boasting manner. Bill oftentimes donates thousands and thousands of dollars to our wrestling community yet he refuses to be recognized publically for the donations. He is just that kind of guy, so to speak. Most recently, Bill donated Texas Flags to be used during the Dual Competition and Fargo that will passed down to each team year after year to build a tradition. We appreciate you Bill Short for all that you do for Texas Wrestling!

I would like to offer a sincere thank you to Tervel Dlagnev. While Texas has been blessed with many great ambassadors, it would be hard to find a finer role model for young people than Tervel. He tirelessly posed for every photo, signed every tee shirt, and never offered anything less than a smile and positive words of encouragement.

We all hope and pray for good health and success as he continues his pursuit of his dreams and an Olympic Gold Medal !

Also, thank you to Texas Heat, who also worked a table in the main gym.
