This year we have a lot of great UFC events waiting for us. Below we reviews a couple of those but visiting ufcbettingonline.com you can read detiled previews as well.
UFC 237 (May 11, 2019)- Rose Namajunas V Jessica Andrade. [Title Fight]
Rose Namajunas will step back into the ring after more than a year to defend her Women’s strawweight title against Jessica Andrade. The fight will take place in Andrade’s home country in Brazil.
This will be the second time that Namajunas is defending her title. The first time she defended her title was when she beat Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the title rematch. She had previously beat Joanna via an impressive first-round TKO to take the women’s strawweight title. To earn her shot at the title, Namajunas overcame Michelle Waterson via submission. This puts Namajunas on a hot 3-match winning streak.
Andrade’s only loss since moving to the strawweight category was against Jedrzejczyk in a title fight. Since then, she has won 3 on the bounce including a first-round knockout win against Karolina Kowalkiewicz this past September.
Andrade will have home advantage in this match and that will undoubtedly motivate her to give a good show. However, Namajunas will not be a pushover. Her title is on the line. In addition, she is definitely roaring to get back in the ring after a year out. The stage is set for a great fight.
UFC 238 (June 8, 2019)- Henry Cejudo v Marlon Moraes. [Title Fight]
Henry Cejudo and Marlon Moraes go head to head for the vacant bantamweight title. The fight will take place in Illinois, United States.
The title was vacated by TJ Dillashaw after he failed a drug test. The fight pits two of the best UFC fighters against each other. Moraes is the highest ranked bantamweight fighter. He record is 22-5-1. His last fight was in February against Raphael Assuncao. He won that fight easily via first-round submission.
Cejudo’s record is currently 14-2. His last fight was against Dillashaw in January. He also won easily via a first round knockout. Cejudo and Moraes have been engaging in a war of words since the fight was announced. Cejudo said that he will shut Moraes’ lights out. Moraes responded by calling Cejudo a “fake”.
This match will put together two fighters in good form. It is guaranteed to be a cracker.
UFC 239 (July 6, 2019)-Jon Jones v Thiago Santos. [Title Fight]
Jon Jones will defend his light heavyweight title against Thiago Santos. This fight will take place in Las Vegas, United States.
Jones is 24-1, 1(NC). Jones has had a rollercoaster past three years in the sport. He has been stripped of 3 UFC titles for infractions including failed drug tests. He retook his title back in December after defeating Alexander Gustafsson via a third-round TKO. He then defended his title successfully against Anthony Smith via unanimous decision.
Jones faces a man reborn in the light heavyweight division of UFC. Santos was a middleweight fighter before making the step up to light heavyweight. He has an impressive 21-6 record. Since moving up a division, Santos has won all of his three fights via either KO or TKO. In fact, Santos is sort of a KO/TKO specialist with 11 of his UFC wins coming via either KO or TKO.
This fight is against two fighters in great from both looking to establish themselves as light heavyweight champions. It will surely be a great fight.
UFC 239 (July 6, 2019)- Amanda Nunes v Holly Holm [Title Fight]
This fight takes place on the same day and place as the Jones v Santos fight. Amanda Nunes will be seeking to defend her bantamweight title against Holly Holm.
Nunes became UFC’s first women’s two-division champion after she knocked out former featherweight champion Cris Cyborg. That win put Nunes on 8 straight victories. Nunes claimed that she is the Greatest Of All Time after defeating Cyborg to win the featherweight title.
Holm will be looking to reclaim the bantamweight title that she once held. She famously won it after defeating previously undefeated Ronda Rousey in 2015. Holm is best known for her boxing skills. Her record stands at 12-4. Her most recent fight was against Megan Anderson where she won via unanimous decision. This fight will be Holm’s first fight in the bantamweight division in over 2 years.
Sparks will fly in this match. Nunes wants to retain her two titles while backing up her claim that she is the Greatest Of All Time. On the other hand, Holm wants a title for herself.
